The Great Southeast Pollinator Census Day

The Great South East Pollinator Census – A Day of Fun, Bugs, and Citizen Science! 

Help us celebrate the pollinators that keep our gardens and food growing. On August 23rd, we’re taking part in the Great South East Pollinator Census—and you’re invited. Your counts will help scientists learn more about our local bees, butterflies, and other beneficial bugs, and the data you collect supports important pollinator protection projects and research.

Here’s what’s happening:

• Take the Census – Spend just 15 minutes observing one plant and counting pollinator visits. We’ll have folding chairs, recording sheets, and friendly helpers to guide you.

• Brand-New Scavenger Hunt – Search the nursery for hidden pollinator surprises.

• Pollinator-Themed Crafts – Creative activities for all ages.

• Themed Treats – A little something sweet to enjoy while you count and craft.

• Freebie Fun – Every census participant gets an official certificate, and all nursery purchases come with a free seed packet to take home.

At 10 AM, join our special Kids Club event:

• A guest from Foxtale Book Shoppe will read The Great Pollinator Count by Susan Richmond.

• We’ll make seed balls packed with native seeds—perfect for starting your own pollinator patch.

How the Census Works
Pick a plant, watch for 15 minutes, and count every pollinator that lands. Record your results on the official Pollinator Census website, and you’re done.
