Dalia Lavender, manager of Four Seasons Gift & Garden
I am originally from New York, but I have lived in several places including Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, New Jersey and of course GA. I love spending time with my family and especially my daughter. I have a degree in business administration and when the recession started I lost my job and decided to take the class to become a Master Gardener for Cherokee County. I enjoy the outdoors whether it be gardening, running, or sitting by the pool or beach. During the summer I can be found in my vegetable garden from dusk to dawn!
One of the best things about working at Autumn Hill is the people! I love being able to help everyone make their gardening visions come to life. Introducing customers to new varieties of plants, solving “the deer ate my roses” problem and curing everything from supposed “brown thumbs” to rust problems makes for a really rewarding career. Not to mention all the great new products we’re carrying have been a great inspiration to me in helping our customers find that perfect something for the gardeners in their life.
Once I was asked, what do you like best about gardening , Hmm I said, that’s a tough one, I would probably have to say the creation. Being able to sit on my porch and look at my garden and just appreciate that I helped it grow. The best advice I can give about gardening is enjoy the process. Enjoy the dirt in your hands, the sun on your neck, the sounds of the birds (or in some cases the kids!) and the colors in your garden. Remember, the flowers will only be in bloom for a season, but the time well spent will fill your heart.
Thanks for being a part of our family here at Autumn Hill Nursery, Dalia! We appreciate everything you do!
