About Us

Welcome to Autumn Hill Nursery & Landscape!

Here, we offer more than plants and advice—we offer a place where passionate gardeners and curious homeowners alike feel right at home. Whether you’re hunting for your next must-have plant or need a solution to a landscaping challenge, we’re here to help with a smile.

Over 30 years ago, Kari and I (Eric) took a leap of faith. With the help of our parents, we purchased a run-down, weed-filled nursery, armed with more hope than experience. Thanks to the gardening community, who quickly found us, and the talented, seasoned gardeners who joined our team, Autumn Hill began to bloom.

We’re all about sharing our love for plants and our years of experience. This journey has been deeply personal, with nearly every member of our family pitching in over the years. Our customers and staff aren’t just part of our business—they’re part of our extended family. Some have been with us for decades, growing alongside us. We’re incredibly proud of our team, whose dedication and joy for helping others shine through in everything they do.

So, come by and let’s talk gardening! We’d love to get to know you and help you create your own little corner of paradise.

Warmly,
Eric & Kari Hill

Our Story

“What were we thinking?” I don’t know how many times Kari and I said this to one another the first year we were in business. Now we laugh, but in those early days we were simply too tired to laugh. While not spoken, I think we each thought, “Well, we weren’t thinking”.

It has been over thirty years since that rainy day that I suggested we open a nursery. Three months later here we were anxiously watching every car that came down Earney Road, praying it would pull in. Looking back we are of course glad we were not thinking, otherwise this nursery may have never happened.

The shell of a nursery was here, when we opened in August 1992. The place was overgrown with six foot tall weeds, the pond was a mere hole in the ground, and the existing plant inventory included 400 very prickly Chinese hollies that NOBODY wanted. We didn’t have a clue what we were doing. The learning curve was steep, and at times we didn’t think we would ever figure out what to do.

But folks started coming, and we kept learning about plants, landscaping, marketing, and running a business. Things started coming together, and we haven’t looked back. We still look at each other across from the dinner table from time to time and say, “What were we thinking?”, but now its usually followed by a wink and a smile.

We have plenty of milestones, successes and failures. We have stories that make us laugh, and others that bring back tears as we remember friends from the nursery who are no longer here.

This handful of acres off what was once a small country roads, has become more than we ever dreamed of, we’ve raised our wonderful kids here, and made lifelong friends with customers and staff, helped create thousands of gardens and most importantly had a whole heck of a lot of fun and we’re so glad to get to share it with you .
